McDonald's is closing its walk-in restaurant in Felixstowe as from today as new lockdown rules come into force across England.
The fast-food restaurant will still operate its drive-thru facility for takeaway and delivery orders
Paul Pomroy, Chief Executive Officer, McDonald's UK and Ireland, said: "We are starting 2021 with an update on Covid-19 and the further tightening of restrictions across the country.
"Throughout this crisis we have always prioritised the safety of our employees and customers. And so, in light of the recent announcements from the government and public health authorities, we have decided to temporarily change the ways in which we will be operating in the UK and Ireland."
Click and serve will be available at many branches - allowing you to order and have food delivered to your car.
Mr Pomroy said: "Our restaurants are unique, and we want to take some time to review the set up at each restaurant before we offer takeaway during these latest restrictions.
"Therefore, we have voluntarily decided to introduce this temporary change whilst we work with third-party experts to review and verify any additional enhanced safety measures for our walk-in takeaway services.
"We will continually review this decision and will only re-open for takeaway with third-party verification of any additional enhanced safety measures."
New lockdown rules for England were announced by Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Monday and will be voted into law by MPs today and will stay in place until at least the middle of February.
