Felixstowe's Daniel Lane sentenced at Ipswich Crown Court

A Felixstowe man who tried to sell stolen clothing on Facebook has been ordered to complete 100 hours unpaid work as part a community order.

Daniel Lane of Wesel Avenue, Felixstowe denied handling stolen goods, but was found guilty by a jury after a trial at Ipswich Crown Court last month.

Clothing, values at more than £16,000, was stolen from Hall Street Menswear in Hadleigh High Street on February 9 2019 during a burglary.

Marc Brown, prosecuting, said it wasn't suggested that Lane was involved in the burglary.

However the menswear shop owner saw the stolen items being advertised on Facebook and police traced it back to the 33-year-old Lane., who denied knowing it had been stolen.

Lane said he had been doing a friend a favour but refused to reveal the person's name.

Nicola Thompson for Lane said the offence hadn't been planned and Lane hadn't been seeking any financial profit.

Lane was given a 12 month community order, a 20 day rehabilitation activity requirement, ordered to do 100 hours unpaid work and to pay £200 costs.

Sentencing him Recorder Gabrielle Posner said Lane hadn't reoffended since the offence and had made efforts to lead a productive life.
