A Felixstowe man has been sent to prison for four months after threaten to slit his mums throat with a broken fruit bowl.

Christopher Nock, 32, of Beacon Field, Felixstowe, admitted common assault on his mother and criminal damage to the fruit bowl, and was jailed by a judge at Ipswich Crown Court.

Judge Emma Peters warned as Nock had been in custody for five months he would be released almost straight away, so made a restraining order banning him from going to his mums home unless she invited him.

The court heard how Nock showed up at his mother Valerie Fox's home at around midnight and she let him into the house after hearing him shouting in the garden.

Prosecutor Catherine Bradshaw said Nock, who has been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia had smashed a china fruit bowl while swearing at his mum and saying he was going to 'slash her throat'.

Mrs Bradshaw said: "He wasn't in a good mood and she assumed he'd taken drink or drugs.

"She was scared and thought he could possibly cause her some harm."

Mrs Fox called her other son for help and also contacted the police.

Miss Bradshaw said that Nock's mother had a close relationship with him when he wasn't under the influence of drink and drugs.

Defence solicitor Kelly Fernandez-Lee, told the court Nock had mental health issues and had been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, but while in custody he had been taking medication and was clean of drugs.

She added that Nock felt "complete and utter remorse" for what he'd put his mother through.but she was staring by him and had invited him to stay with her on his release from custody.
