Based at our Felixstowe Transport Depot, the successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and confident person, possessing good IT skills and have the capability to adapt to the pressures of a constantly changing work environment.

Full training will be given in all aspects of traffic office operation, so previous experience is less important than proficiency in IT, a willingness to learn and a flexible attitude.

We believe the successful Trainee Transport Planner should have the following skills:

-Confident with IT systems particularly the Microsoft Packages

-Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with constantly changing priorities

-Attention to detail - high level of accuracy to minimise errors

-Excellent communication skills, written and verbal

-Solution driven - able to take ownership of situations with a positive, can-do attitude

-Effective time management skills, being able to meet deadlines

-Team player - build relationships with other internal and external teams and functions

-Strong organisational skills with the ability to multi-task multiple demands whilst displaying resilience

The key tasks for the Trainee Transport Planner are:

-Assisting with the planning and routing of MSC Transport's fleet to achieve maximum utilisation and productivity while ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation

-Liasing with drivers, dealing with queries and operational issues

-Effective communication with other departments within MSC, contributing to the whole-team goal of improving customer satisfaction through the delivery of excellent customer service

-Updating in-house systems to keep the status of jobs always current, and ensuring that all administration (signing off of completed jobs etc) is done in a timely and proficient manner

-Making and updating VBS bookings (booking vehicles/containers on and off of the relevant ports)
