A woman in Felixstowe had to swerve across the road to avoid crashing into a drunk-driver, a court has heard.
Her quick reactions prevented a serious accident on High Road, Felixstowe last Saturday at around 10pm when 27-year-old Luke Vincent almost smashed into her, while more than three times the alcohol limit, Suffolk magistrates were told.
Vincent, of Stables Road, Felixstowe, was driving a Ford Mondeo and continued along the road before turning right and switching off the car's lights.
Police were called and found the car in Adastral Close with two flat tyres, and Vincent was seen nearby.
Vincent initially refused to provide his details for a roadside breath test and was arrested, and when he did provide a sample of breath at the police station he blew 117 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35mcg in 100ml of breath.
The court heard Vincent told police "it was a stupid thing to do" when he appeared at Suffolk Magistrates' Court on Monday via video link from Martlesham Police Investigation Centre where he pleaded guilty to drink-driving and dangerous driving.
The court heard that Vincent, who had no previous convictions, had recently suffered a relationship break-up.
Magistrates ordered an all-options pre-sentence report and committed the case to crown court for sentence on a date to be fixed.
Vincent, who was granted unconditional bail, was also made subject to an interim driving ban ahead of his sentence.
