A Trimley woman has narrowly lost her title as the World Porridge Making Champion by a single point.
Lisa Williams from Trimley St Mary, was named runner-up in the 2020 Virtual Spurtle over the weekend, narrowly missing out to Scotsman Chris Young.
Her 'Porridge of Hope' included 'pinoat' butter, honey bananas and chocolate, served with a rainbow fruit kebab, which was seen by the judges via video.
Lisa, who runs Stennett's Community Cafe in Felixstowe, explained her dish's name comes after feeling sad about missing out on her annual trip to Carrbridge where the competition is held, and said: "My hope is we will all be back together again in 2021."
Mr Young the owner of Perthshire Oatcakes, presented a twist on a French dish, which in Gaelic is Crunch sa Bheul, and stunned the judges with this dishy balance of ingredients, unique idea, and flair for the method, to produce a winning combination.
The 10 winners were announced throughout World Porridge Day on Saturday on the Golden Spurtle website and Facebook page.
Oatmeal-inspired duck confit taco, porridge pina colada and blueberry cheesecake porridge were among other recipes in the top 10.
Charlie Miller from Carrbridge Community Council, which organises the competition, said: "While we were of course hugely disappointed not to be able to host the World Championships in Carrbridge this year, we've been delighted with the response to the Virtual Spurtle.
"Many thanks to everyone who entered, congratulations to our top 10 finalists, to our winner and runner up, to our judges, and to everyone who has watched the videos online today. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to Carrbridge next October for the 2021 championships."
