Felixstowe: Anti development campaigners slam East Suffolk Council's 'Blind Planning Policy'

A Felixstowe peninsula based action group has accused East Suffolk council of operating a 'Blind Eye Planning Policy'
Kirton and Trimley Community Action Group (KATCAG) have produced a lengthy report claiming East Suffolk planners are approving developer designs which are contrary to the Suffolk Guidance on Parking.
KATCAG are a group of residents on the Colneis Peninsula that are campaigning to prevent farmland on and around Trimley Villages, Walton and Felixstowe from being destroyed by thousands of new homes.
The 66-page report claims there is 'parking pandemonium' in their villages and residents have long despaired about finding parking spaces and resultant anti-social parking.
It forces on:
Insufficient disabled parking spaces. This is contrary to the Equality Act and the Disability Discrimination Act. Sufficient infrastructure for Electric Vehicle Charging Points. This is contrary to their own Climate Emergency Declaration. The report also claims the lack of parking spaces on new housing developments will:Make current parking problems even worse.
Promote anti-social parking.Impede the progress of emergency vehicles, possibly endangering lives and causing damage to property.
A KATCAG spokesperson said: "We have written evidence that ESC are living in blissful ignorance of these failings, and have described it as a Blind Eye Planning Policy.
"Developers are attempting to squeeze in as many houses as possible with little thought to parking requirements, which will lead to even more dangers and obstruction throughout the District.
"They are being allowed to do so thanks to ESC's Blind Eye Planning Policy."
