A school's trust is today considering appealing on behalf of students whose A-Level results they feel were wrongly downgraded.

Felixstowe Academy is one of five schools run by Unity Schools Partnership whose results reflect the national figures, which show 40% of students had their marks downgraded.

Tim Coulson, the Trust's chief executive told the BBC: "We have information that clearly shows an appeal would be successful, we think the appeals process will be helpful and we will go through the appeal.

However, for some that will be too late as university place will have been snapped up."

Overall though, Felixstowe Academy has reported good results with three girls winning places at universities of their choice with A* and A grades.

Speaking specifically about the town's academy Mr Coulson on the Trust's website: "On a day when nationally news on A-levels has been difficult, the students at Felixstowe Academy have proved that the school is back on track and ensuring that young people can go to the university of their choice."

Emma Wilson-Downes, headteacher at Felixstowe Academy, said: "Students have worked incredibly hard and have continued to demonstrate our school values throughout this challenging period.

"We are delighted that this has been recognised in the results that they have achieved. We are so proud of each and every one of them and we have enjoyed sharing in their excitement today.

"We know they will go on to be great alumni of our school and be fabulous ambassadors for the school and the town in their future careers."
