One member of staff and 63 sixth form pupils at Felixstowe School have gone into self-isolation after a second student tested positive for Covid-19.

The new case was confirmed yesterday, prompting the mandatory 14-day isolation period for all within his year bubble at the school, formally known as Felixstowe Academy.

Emma Wilson-Downes, Headteacher of Felixstowe School, said: "We can confirm that one sixth form student has tested positive for Covid-19.

"One staff member and 63 sixth form students have now been contacted and have begun self-isolating for the 14-day period.

"All students who have been asked to self-isolate have been spoken to and asked if they need any support with accessing remote learning.

"Work is being set online for students, via Google Classroom, and teachers are setting up Google Meet video links during each lesson so that students can be remotely involved in the learning going on in the lesson and seek help from teachers during their timetabled lessons."

Another student who was tested positive in September has not yet returned to the academy in Felixstowe.
