East Suffolk's Covid-19 case rate has risen week on week with 176 positive test reported in the seven days leading up to Tuesday, November 10.

The weekly case rate rose week on week to 70.2, leading to 50 positive tests in 100,000, which would have led to a Tier 2 restriction pre-lockdown.

The figures includes at least one positive case at a Felixstowe primary school in the past seven days, which has led to 58 pupils and 10 teachers going into isolation.

Stuart Keeble, director of Suffolk's Public Health body, pointed out that while Suffolk in general, had comparatively low infections rates, before lockdown Blackburn had gone into a Tier 2 restrictions for having a rate of 50 people per 100,000, and Suffolk was currently at 75 per 100,000

Speaking at the Suffolk Health and Wellbeing board meeting this morning, Mr Keeble said: "It is a positive that we are sitting at the lower end of rates but we need to be mindful that we still need to be focusing on doing the right things in order to prevent the spread of the virus and we need to continue to take it seriously."

There have been two COVID-19 related deaths in the last seven days and in total, up to the October 30, there were 576 deaths in Suffolk where COVID-19 was recorded on the death certificate.
