Expensive clothes stolen from a Hadleigh High Street shop were sold online, it was alleged in court today.

The clothing, which had a retail value of more than £16,000, was stolen from Hall Street Menswear in the town on 9 February, 2019, Ipswich Crown Court heard.

Daniel Lane, of Wesel Avenue, Felixstowe, denied handling stolen goods, after he advertised the closing on Facebook's Market Place.

The owner of the Hadleigh shop saw the clothing, which included a number of exclusive and well-known men's brands including Tommy Hilfiger, posted online 11 days after the burglary.

Lane, 33, told police he had taken photographs of 40 items of clothing and had agreed to sell them on his Facebook Marketplace account for a friend.

He would not name the friend and denied knowing the clothing was stolen.

Marc Brown, prosecuting, told the court it was not suggested that Lane was involved in the burglary.
