A man has been rushed to hospital after being injured by a loose mooring at Felixstowe docks today.

The crew member from the container ship Ever Grade vessel was injured when a loose mooring rope hit him during Storm Eunice this morning.

An air ambulance, Suffolk fire crews, paramedics and two east of England ambulances were called to the Port of Felixstowe after reports that the man had been hurt.

A spokesman for East of England Ambulance Service said: "Two ambulances, a rapid response vehicle, a response car from the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance and an operations manager attended the scene.

"An adult man was transported to the Royal London Hospital for further assessment and treatment."

The Ever Grade, part of the Evergreen group flying under a Panama flag, arrived in Felixstowe from Rotterdam yesterday to unload, and is heading for Hamburg.
