A coastal walker has welcomed a short break while travelling through Felixstowe on his epic 11,000 mile challenge.
Chris Howard has set himself the goal to walk the perimeter of Britain, with the minimum of kit, relying totally on the kindness of strangers to let him pitch his tent, or give him a bed for the night as he looks to raise £10,000 for Children in Need.
The rules on the walk mean he can take a ferry, like the one between Landguard Fort to Harwich after walking down the by Deben then back up the Orwell via Kirton and Trimley, Chris enjoyed the 10 minute sit down on the Harbour foot ferry, piloted by Christian Zemann.
"I loved the foot ferry from Felixstowe," walker Chris told Nub News.
Although Chris is raising fund to Children in Need, he has described how the challenge is also a personal test of endurance and to inspire his young family.
The Cambridgeshire father of three daughters said: "All this time spent alone without my family, and walking in these temperatures is going to test me.
"I have deprived myself of all those luxuries, like knowing where I will get a bed for the night, or shower and seeing my family, in order that I can raise money for a very good charity.
"I have three amazing children of my own and I want to inspire them and others to always push their limits and help others."
The Coast Walker is today making his way towards south Essex and the Thames estuary. You can follow Chris's progress on his website here, or sponsor him here...
