Foodhub – the UK's third biggest takeaway food delivery app, with a number of outlets in the Felixstowe area – has banned customers from ordering Hawaiian pizzas via any of its platforms.

The ban has been put in place from April 1st on the personal instruction of Foodhub CEO Ardian Mula, who has made a video to explain the reasoning behind the sudden decision.

Mr Mula, an acknowledged pizza aficionado, has instructed staff to remove all Hawaiian style pizzas from both Foodhub's website and app with immediate effect. The company's sales team is now visiting its takeaway restaurant partners to explain their action.

Foodhub has also instructed all takeaway partners to refuse to offer pineapple as an option when customers are choosing pizza toppings via the app or website.

In the video, released on Foodhub's social media channels, Mr Mula said: "Before I begin, let me just be clear that we love all kinds of food here at Foodhub and we have been open to introducing different cuisines from across the world since we first launched.

"For quite some time, we have been pushing for a ban on Hawaiian pizzas across the Foodhub platforms. But, until now, there has been a lot of resistance. However, from today Hawaiian pizzas are banned on Foodhub and there will be no pineapple option as a topping on our pizzas."
