It's going to be a busy autumn and winter for Felixstowe writer Iain Maitland, with an audio book, a novel and a novella all out before Christmas – and a trilogy of police procedural thrillers following in 2022.

Iain and his eldest son Michael have just narrated the audio book of their memoir, Out Of The Madhouse, for Isis Audio. That's now available on pre-order via Audible and out on 1 November.

He has also just signed contracts with Dublin-based publisher Inkubator Books to publish his Felixstowe-based thriller, 3 Bluebell Lane, in the UK, Europe and US before the year end.

His three Edwardian murder mystery novellas for Sharpe Books, featuring detectives Bloomfield and Palmer, are being published every other month from December with an omnibus of the three novellas, The Wickham Market Murder, The Southwold Murders and The Cobbold Point Murder, out in June 2022.

"I've never been so busy and I'm thrilled to be doing different types of work. Michael and I have just recorded Out Of The Madhouse – both of us stuck in hot and sticky cubicles reading for seven hours. But it was a unique experience to narrate your own memoir."

"I'm thrilled that my psych thriller 3 Bluebell Lane has found a wonderful publisher in Inkubus Books. In a way, this is a follow-up to Mr Todd's Reckoning which was coming to TV with Paul Ritter. Mr Adams is a lonely man living in Bluebell Lane – based on Grimston Lane in Trimley – and he meets a homeless girl called Rosie down by Felixstowe Pier one cold and wintry night."

"I'm just working my way through the Edwardian murder mysteries at present – these are more Agatha Christie-ish with fewer buckets of gore – and I hope my two lead characters, Bloomfield & Partner, will run and run through more novels."

"My last psych thriller, The scribbler, came out last year and has been well received. One of the characters from that, Georgia Carrie, is now getting her own series of novels – three to start with, beginning with The Key Man. Very excited about these."
