2022 marks the 40th anniversary of the opening of Felixstowe Museum at the Landguard Peninsula in Felixstowe. This award-winning Suffolk visitor attraction is a unique treasure trove of artefacts and objects which bring alive the rich military and social history of the area.

The Museum will be holding a special anniversary party on Saturday 6 August from 1200-1900, and everyone is invited.

There will be an 80s disco, live music and food (pizza, burgers) and drink (mobile bar) to purchase. Why not come dressed for the decade as your favourite 80s icon?

Normal admission charges will apply for entry into the Museum. No need to book, just come along and join in the fun.

Housed within an historic former submarine mining establishment, Felixstowe Museum first opened its doors to the public in 1982, and over the last 40 years has blossomed from a simple one-room exhibition into the Museum of today.

From intricate ship and plane models to dolls houses, seaside heritage, mammoth teeth and pleasure steamers, adults and children alike can discover all sorts of amazing stuff in fourteen different rooms.

The new fun exhibition 'Frankie Goes to Felixstowe' - Back to the 80s tells some of the stories of Felixstowe and beyond during that iconic decade.

Visit the re-created 80s living room, become a 'Top Gun', discover the wall of albums and fashion parade, play iconic arcade games and explore the stories that hit the headlines, both nationally and locally.

Andy Calver, Felixstowe Museum Manager said, "We are celebrating 40 glorious years not just of the Museum itself, but also the amazing dedication and hard work of our volunteers and helpers, those who have donated items to our collections and local organisations which have played their part in our wonderful story past and present. Thank you - and let's raise a glass and look ahead to another 40 years of bringing alive Felixstowe's rich history and heritage".
