Ipswich Town's Tractor Girls will have unprecedented support when they look to read the last eight of the Women's FA Cup against Southampton FC at Felixstowe.

Messages backing Joe Sheehan's Blues have come in from former players and Ipswich Town's men's manager Kieran McKenna and it is anticipated the women will be playing in front of a record crowd tomorrow (Sunday) at the Goldstar Ground.

"Obviously to reach that stage of the FA Cup is a really good achievement already but we're all hoping that they can go one further," said McKenna.

"Southampton are good rivals in that division, so it will be a difficult game but I know they're all looking forward to it, preparing well and it would be great for the whole club if they could make that next step and go to the quarter-finals.

"Certainly we wish them all the best, everyone at the club is behind them and we hope it goes our way on Sunday."

Jackie Slack and Maureen Martin, were part of the Ipswich Women's side that won the WFA Cup in 1982 and 1986 and put their success down to hard work and determination.

Jackie said: "Never give up, always think positive. We may not have been the most skilful but we were fit and determined."

Ipswich currently top the Southern Premier Division of the FA Women's national League, with Southampton sitting third.

There is an element of seeking revenge after Ipswich losing 1-0 in the League Cp to the Saints, although they know they can better their league rivals after a 2-0 win at Southampton.

Town midfielder Abbie Lafayette, who leads the team in assist with 10, said: "I know it's going to be a tough game and the fact they've beaten us on our home soil already this season gives us that extra motivation to win.

"To progress to the next round would be great, and even better against Southampton, so it's exciting times.

"I'm looking forward to playing in front of a big crowd. It makes a big difference having our fans there to push us on."

The Tractor Girls beat Newcastle United in the last round to reach the last 16, after water victories against MK Dons, Crawley Wasps and AFC Wimbledon in previous rounds.

The turnstile will be open from 12.30pm for a 2pm kick off at the Dellwood Avenue stadium, with tickets for Sunday's match costing £5 for adults and £3 concessions and U16s fee with an adult.
