Pub-lovers will soon be getting back to their local and while some of the favourites in the Felixstowe area will be open at the earliest opportunity on July 4, some are easing their way back slowly.

Nub News will keep you up to date as pubs open the doors to welcome customers, one way or another and what rules you will be expected to follow.

We start with the Mariners in Trimley, which has undergone an extensive refurbishment inside and out and unbolting the door at 10am on Saturday July 4.

The Mariners boss told Nub.News: "We will have a one way system with an entrance and a separate exit. When entering you will be asked to sanitise, we will show you to your table and once you are settled, you can download our app and order straight to the bar.

"We will be offering full table service, so no one has to leave their table unless they need the toilet. At the moment, we will not allow tables bigger than six customers at a time but hope we will be able to review this in the coming months.

"All the garden, bar and restaurant areas are set out to at least a metre giving comfort and safety. There will be sanitiser points at each doorway and in both the gents and ladies toilets.

"We have some Pop up screens which we can move round the pub and use at different tables if required. Only one person will be allowed in the toilets at one time. Once people vacate their tables, they will be completely sanitised ready for our next customers.

"We are offering food all day Saturday from 12-9pm. And after this weekend, we hope to be adding tapas to enjoy every Saturday afternoon. Perfect for sharing with friends and family.

"On Sunday we will be cooking our normal classic menu but adding our Homemade Sunday Roast as a special between 12-6pm. But be quick as once the roasts go as a special you'll have to choose off our classic menu which is just as yummy.

"We will be operating a booking system to help us stagger our customers arrival time to help avoid queues. Of course your always welcome to pop in without booking, but you may be disappointed... the crew look forward to welcome you aboard our trusty ship once again."

The Dooley Inn, near Felixstowe Port, has also enjoyed paint job and will welcome customers old and new on July 4.

They are taking bookings from now in their lawned beer garden with outside toilets and an outside bar to order drinks from when dining outside. Bookings for tables inside to dine can be made from the July 4 onwards.

Greene King pubs the Grosvenor and Owl and the Pussycat will open on Monday July 6. They have guidelines in place, and you will also have to order via their app.

A Greene King spokesman for both pubs said: "We're really looking forward to welcoming you back and we've been working hard behind the scenes on the new Pub Safe promise to make sure you and our teams are as safe as possible in the pub environment you know and love.

"As part of our social distancing promise we've reduced the number of tables available, this means we need you to book ahead of visiting to guarantee availability.

"We will be taking online bookings from 12pm Friday 26th June. Please check back for updates."

Some of the Greene King Pub Safe rules include:

Asking customers to use our Order & Pay app and contactless payment methods

Using screens around our tills to protect both you and our teams

Delivering food & drink to your table in the safest way possible

Using disposable menus, so they can be recycled after your visit or taken home to use for your next takeaway order.

Displaying all allergen information online for our food, so you can check it from your own device.

Pub bosses and landladies and landlords can send us their opening information here at [email protected]
