A beach hut in Old Felixstowe became the most expensive in the resort less than 48 hours after it came on the market.

Hamilton Road based Diamond Mills and Co sold the colourful beach hut on Undercliff Road East for £88.000, subject to contracts being exchanged, after putting it for sale at £70k.

The hut, measuring 7ft 7in by 6ft 10in (2.31m x 2.08m), comes fully equipped with items.

It is ideally located close to refreshments and public toilets, looks out over the North Sea, and is on a solid wooden platform.

Beach huts can sell for as little as a few thousand pounds, or as much as £245k for one bought in Mudeford.

In addition to the hefty price tag in Felixstowe, there is £656 to pay to East Suffolk Council upon completion to cover the first year's licence fee for the new owners.
