Felixstowe's coastguard crew were among a joint response as a body was recovered from the river Orwell near to Orwell Bridge.
Suffolk's emergency services were called to the Strand, Wherstead, at 6am on Sunday after reports that a person was in the water.

Stand in Seasiders boss Andy Crump admitted that at one stage he was dreading having to make the phone call to holidaying manager Stuart Boardley as Felixstowe went through a roller coaster of a cup tie, before ending up 5-3 winners.
It was beginning to look a bit like squeaky bum time when the Seasiders let a 4-1 lead slip and Southend came back to within a goal of forcing a replay, with five minutes of time added on given.

The unveiling of the new mural at Felixstowe station to promote train travel in the area comes as part of Greater Anglia's collaboration with the East Suffolk Lines Community Rail Partnership.
Aaron Taffera, chair of the East Suffolk Lines Community Rail Partnership, said: "The mural looks great and the Community Rail Partnership is pleased to have been able to support this project which provides a colourful welcome and encourages people to explore the town."

Bosses at a Felixstowe pub have been ordered to pay nearly £60,000 after an employee suffered serious injuries when she fell through an open hatch.
The employee was on a trial shift at the Mariners Freehouse in Trimley St Mary in May 2019 when she went through the unguarded opening and fell two metres onto the cellar floor, hitting steps on the way.

Felixstowe is among a number of towns expected to pull its weight after Suffolk's councils united to pledge their support in the Afghan refugee crisis, saying "times like these call for acts of humanity".
The county's authorities were briefed by the Government late Wednesday afternoon on the resettlement scheme, which will allow 20,000 Afghans fleeing the Taliban to seek shelter on UK shores.
