Felixstowe Blue Badge holders warned as Suffolk council clamp down

Blue badge holders on the Felixstowe peninsula have been warned that county council officials are looking to clamp down after the first of a number of 'enforcement days' took place in Suffolk.

The scheme is aimed at protecting genuine Blue Badge holders, that use many parking areas in Felixstowe and the neighbouring villages, dedicated to those entitled to those spots, or single yellow lined spaces.

Red Ensign flag to fly at Felixstowe town hall for Merchant Navy Day

The iconic Red Ensign flag will be hoisted at Felixstowe's town hall to mark Merchant Navy Day tomorrow.

Councillors and former members of the Merchant Navy, known colloquially as the 'Grey Funnel Line' will raise the 'red duster' on Friday 3 September at 9:30am to raise public awareness of the UK's ongoing dependence on seafarers.

After being postponed due to COVID restrictions back in May, the Civic Awards will be presented as part of the FelixFest weekend on Saturday 9 October.

The awards are to recognise contributions made to the community by individuals, young people and organisations in Felixstowe.

Book packs available for Felixstowe pupils

Suffolk Libraries, including Felixstowe Library, have created 'Get Ready for Schools' book bags to help families with children who are going to start school for the first time this week.

The book bag contains stories that detail the school day as well as information cards to prepare children for the big day.

Delayed Kitchen restaurant on Felixstowe seafront now due to open before Christmas

The much anticipated new restaurant in Martello Park is now set to open before Christmas after a change of use condition caused delays.

Called The Kitchen, the contemporary looking building at the junction of Sea Road and Orford Road in Felixstowe still has fencing around as contractors continue external work.
