A moody Martello photograph captured the public's vote to be named this year's Felixstowe Photo of 2020.

The photographic competition, organised and supported by Visit Felixstowe, Felixstowe Town Council and the Landguard Partnership, attracted around 70 entries from all ages (12 to 81 years) and abilities over three different themes - Active, Historic and Seasons.

Newly elected Felixstowe Town mayor Mark Jepson

History was made in Felixstowe last night as the new mayor was sworn in at his own house.

Mark Jepson put on the mayoral chains in a remote ceremony on Zoom, after stepping up from deputy to replace the outgoing Nick Barber, who had served two of the past three years in the post.

East Suffolk Council on its first day

A review into the first elections at England's largest district council last year has found there was no systemic issue with postal votes, but did acknowledge there were delays at the count.

East Suffolk Council, formed last year from Suffolk Coastal and Waveney councils, held its first local elections in May last year, with eight councillors of the 55 members, representing Felixstowe and nearby Orwell villages elected. European elections were also held later that month.

Food savvy youngsters aged four to 11 can get drawing

Pioneering food saving campaign #FoodSavvy has today launched a month-long Delicious Drawings competition in collaboration with the East of England Co-op.

The competition will inspire primary school children in the Felixstowe area to get creative about saving and valuing food. Children are invited to draw a picture which shows how you can stop tasty food from ending up in the bin.
