Council car parking charges will resume in Felixstowe from bank Holiday Monday.

Having temporarily suspended payments across all its car parks, East Suffolk Council will now re-introduce charging, with effect from Monday 25 May.

The photographic competition, organised and supported by Visit Felixstowe, Felixstowe Town Council and the Landguard Partnership, attracted around 70 entries from all ages (12 to 81 years) and abilities over three different themes - Active, Historic and Seasons.

History was made in Felixstowe last night as the new mayor was sworn in at his own house.

Mark Jepson put on the mayoral chains in a remote ceremony on Zoom, after stepping up from deputy to replace the outgoing Nick Barber, who had served two of the past three years in the post.

A review into the first elections at England's largest district council last year has found there was no systemic issue with postal votes, but did acknowledge there were delays at the count.

East Suffolk Council, formed last year from Suffolk Coastal and Waveney councils, held its first local elections in May last year, with eight councillors of the 55 members, representing Felixstowe and nearby Orwell villages elected. European elections were also held later that month.

A delivery driver has thanked his customers for the kindness shown to him, which has had a positive effect on his mental health during the coronavirus crisis.

Andrew Haskell, whose route for a national courier company, covers the Felixstowe area, has also taken up painting since lockdown, despite never having had any training since leaving school.

Pioneering food saving campaign #FoodSavvy has today launched a month-long Delicious Drawings competition in collaboration with the East of England Co-op.

The competition will inspire primary school children in the Felixstowe area to get creative about saving and valuing food. Children are invited to draw a picture which shows how you can stop tasty food from ending up in the bin.

Having a big heart is often associated with being kind, so squid and octopuses must be the kindest creatures around as they have three hearts. The cephalopods both have one systemic heart that circulates blood around the body and two branchial hearts that pump blood through the gills.

The Suffolk Resilience Forum is reminding Felixstowe residents that 'pop-up' style mobile testing units are regularly in operation around the county, in addition to the nearest centre which is based at the A12.A14 junction at Copdock.

Visits to the units are for those currently showing symptoms of coronavirus and must be booked in advance.
