News in Felixstowe

Fewer than one in five primary pupils returned to school in the Felixstowe area, along with the rest of the county, new data shows.

Data collated by Suffolk education chiefs for the return of Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 pupils from June 1 found that upwards of 69% of Suffolk's primary schools opened in the last week, but a much lower proportion of pupils within those actually returned.

Apprenticeships available for Felixstowe youngsters

New opportunities are being presented to those people in Felixstowe and the surrounding villages, either starting out, or looking for a change in circumstances following the Cover-19 crisis.

East Suffolk Council is offering five apprenticeships for those prepared to travel to Melton near Woodbridge, or Lowestoft, in Communities, Communities, Customer Services, Elections, Private Sector Housing and Property Information.

A £2,500 donation from the recently created East of England Co-op Community Cares Fund has enabled Suffolk Libraries to increase the capacity of its new Lifeline service.

Launched at the beginning of May, the Suffolk Libraries Lifeline has made almost 5,000 calls and has been extremely well received by the community.
