Port of Felixstowe deemed important in East Suffolk's recovery

A taskforce is to be formed to investigate ways of kickstarting the economy in part of Suffolk following the coronavirus lockdown, including means of upping demand for local firms, including those from the Felixstowe area.

A motion by East Suffolk Council's Labour group was passed last week which pledged to assess methods to help keep money and spending in the local economy, through a model known as "community wealth building".

Port of Felixstowe bosses have been accused of not listening to the 'cries of' help by small haulage firms hit by delays.

Hutchison Ports, that operates the UK's largest container port, has failed to react to the increase in demand and add further slots, leaving drivers delayed at the docks for hours, according to industry leader UK Haulier that represents haulage firms and drivers.

A Felixstowe woman has appeared in court on drug charges, along with two men.

Tracey Jones, who used to live on Runnacles Way on Grange Farm, was charged with along with a man from Scotland and another from London, with possession with intent to supply heroin and possession with intent to supply cocaine in Felixstowe on November 20, 2018.
