The government is ramping up its preparations for the end of the Brexit transition period with the launch of a £200 million fund for ports to build new facilities, including potential new infrastructure at Felixstowe and cross the water at Harwich.

The government has said new infrastructure at ports will be needed whether or not the UK secures a negotiated agreement with the EU, given the UK is leaving the customs union and single market and new procedures will be coming into place.

Confirmed coronavirus cases in East Suffolk has gone through 1,000, the highest of any district in Suffolk, according to figures released today.

The East Suffolk council area which includes the Felixstowe area now has 1,034 cases, which includes a number of cases which were not reported by Public Health England due to technical reasons that have now been resolved.

Sundays will never be quite this same from now on for listeners as legendary Felixstowe Radio broadcaster took off his headphones for the last time.

Bob Meadows signed off from his weekly show at midday today and was genuinely amazed to then be given a small but heartfelt token of appreciation by directors Steve Foley and Julie Mason on behalf of everyone at the community station.
