Donate your laptops or tablet to schoolchildren

A Felixstowe pub boss and councillor is appealing for people to donate laptops, iPads or tablets to be donated to local schoolchildren to help them with learning from home.

Melissa Allen, who co-owns the Mariners in Trimley and is am east Suffolk district councillor, has already managed to distribute seven electronic devices to a Trimley school and has another nine to collect one the weekend but is hoping more people will come forward.

Police have arrested a man on suspicion of possessing weapons after he was stopped near the Spa Pavilion in Felixstowe.

Suffolk police stopped a vehicle on Undercliff Road West, just after 11am this morning and after officers carried out further enquiries, a man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of possession of weapons and drugs offences.

The county council is seeking views on its proposed Post-16 Travel Policy for the 2021/2022 school year.

The consultation will be open until the 15 February 2021 for people to have their say on the proposed changes. The amendments are designed to ensure that the policy is clearer for parents/carers and students to understand what travel options there are for travelling to sixth form, college or Post-16 education.
