Levi Hilden raided home near Felixstowe

A burglar who stole a number of items from a house in Kirton on New Year's Eve two years ago has been jailed for 11 years.

Levi Hilden, aged 36 of Birkfield Drive of Ipswich admitted a string of offences was sentenced at Ipswich Crown Court yesterday (Wed 27 January) for burglary, theft, conspiracy to rob, conspiracy to burgle and threatening an individual with an offensive weapon in two year spree between December 2018 and January 2020.

Lidl staff at Felixstowe's two stores are to be given a £200 bonus as a thank you for their hard work during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The German supermarket owner, which has stores across Suffolk including Haven Exchange and Langer Road in Felixstowe, will give the payment to all its shop staff and frontline employees, including customer assistants, warehouse operatives and cleaners.

The number of coronavirus cases in East Suffolk, and the rest of Suffolk, continue to drop but covid-19 related hospital deaths in the hospital trust that covers the Felixstowe area are approaching 900.

Confirmed cases in East Suffolk have dropped for the third week running, with 727 cases reported in East Suffolk in the seven days up to Sunday January 24, and the district is ranked 291st lowest out of 315 areas.
