The iconic Felixstowe foot and cycle ferry to Harwich and Shotley is set to return operating on Monday.

Christian Zemann has completed the refurbishment of the ferry which suffered a serious setback last September when it became partially submerged following a storm, which took it from its mooring in Harwich. (full story here...)

Students from Felixstowe will be among those hit as the cost of school bus places for pupils aged 16 and above heading to college or sixth form will increase by £90 from September.

Suffolk County Council's cabinet on Tuesday afternoon agreed changes to its post-16 school transport policy, which aimed to align it more closely with the policy for 5-16 year olds.

Children using Felixstowe library were among those befitting from the latest round of grant funding from a local partnership.

Since its creation, the Felixstowe Peninsula Community Partnership has allocated a total of £29,560 in funding to local projects which make a difference to the people who live there by addressing local priorities, including isolation and loneliness, mental health and emotional wellbeing, physical health, financial hardship and educational attainment.

In support of Marie Curie Charity's plans for the National Day of Reflection on March 23, the mayor of Felixstowe is encouraging everyone to participate and mark the anniversary of the first coronavirus lockdown.

Organised by the Marie Curie charity the day, which marks the beginning of the first lockdown a year ago, is for everyone to reflect on the collective loss, offer support to those who have been bereaved and hope for a brighter future.

For the first time in two generations, voters in Felixstowe will have the chance to vote Communist on May 6 in this year's county council elections.

The Communist Party of Britain, which last year celebrated its centenary of fighting for a system that is run for and by workers, has nominated two candidates to contest seats at opposite ends of Suffolk.
