Homeowners concerned about an increase in heavy goods vehicles being diverted past their homes during the night are to be consulted as major roadworks are set to start on the major route into Felixstowe on Monday.
Various diversion routes through Trimley and Kirton will be in place to take traffic off the A14 during the overnight work, which is scheduled to go on until January next year.
Highways England told Nub News that residents will be contacted with with further information in the coming days about their plans for the work, which is expected to last for nearly six months.
A spokesperson said: "Throughout the 24 weeks of work we'll be working closely with The Port of Felixstowe and will adjust the times of our road closures according to peak traffic travelling to and from the port, which will reduce the amount of HGV's using our diversion routes.
"The essential resurfacing on the A14 between junctions 58 and 62, close to Felixstowe, is part of a £114m improvements to upgrade roads in the East of England. As a part of this scheme we'll also be carrying out other maintenance such as upgrading safety barriers, undertaking drainage repairs, replacing road signs, renewing faded line markings and road studs."
The first two of five phases are due to be completed by the end of September with diversion routes in place, as shown in the maps above (scroll arrow right on main pic.
