A fire crew today rescued an elderly man who had become trapped in his house.

Concerned neighbours in Exmoor Road, Walton called emergency services after they had not seen the man for some time.

The crew responded swiftly, entered the property and found the pensioner and helped him out, all within 20 minutes. It is understood the home owner was a little distressed but unhurt.

A fire service spokesman said: "Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service received a call from a concerned resident about their elderly neighbour.

"A single crew attended to find the elderly gentleman who had become stuck within the property.

The crew assisted the gentleman before calling a stop to the incident and returning."
