Atrium Recruitment is excited to present an excellent opportunity for a skilled Estimator to join a leading residential contractor based in Ipswich. As part of our client's growing commercial team, you will play a vital role in accurately estimating construction costs for residential projects, ensuring the profitability and success of each venture.

Responsibilities:

  1. Cost Estimation: Utilize your expertise to prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for residential construction projects, including new builds, renovations, and refurbishments.
  2. Bid Preparation: Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to analyze project specifications, review tender documents, and develop competitive bid proposals.
  3. Material and Labor Analysis: Conduct thorough assessments of material and labor requirements, sourcing pricing information and subcontractor quotes to ensure cost-effectiveness and adherence to budgetary constraints.
  4. Value Engineering: Identify opportunities for value engineering to optimize project costs without compromising quality, proposing alternative materials or construction methods where appropriate.
  5. Cost Tracking and Reporting: Monitor project costs throughout the construction process, tracking expenditures against budgets and providing regular reports to stakeholders on cost variances and projections.
  6. Risk Assessment: Evaluate potential risks and uncertainties that may impact project costs, proposing mitigation strategies to minimize financial exposure and ensure project profitability.

Requirements:

  • Proven Experience: Demonstrated experience as an Estimator within the construction industry, with a focus on residential projects. Experience in both new build and refurbishment projects is preferred.
  • Quantitative Skills: Strong analytical and mathematical abilities, with the capability to accurately estimate costs based on project specifications and drawings.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and completeness in all cost estimates and bid proposals.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in construction estimating software (e.g., Conquest, Causeway, or similar) and Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of relevant building regulations and construction standards is advantageous.
  • Team Player: Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively within a team environment, supporting colleagues and contributing to the overall success of projects.
